A relaxed long-weekend escape into the heart of Kinnaur — the temple town of Sarahan, the lush
Sangla Valley, and the apple-orchard village of Kalpa with its front-row views of the sacred Kinner
Kailash. Four scenic days from Shimla and back.
Day 1 — Shimla to Sarahan
After pick-up in Shimla, we set off along the scenic Hindustan–Tibet road, following the Sutlej
River into the apple country of Kinnaur. The drive winds past orchards, pine forests, and dramatic
river gorges.
Arrive at Sarahan, the old summer capital of the Bushahr kingdom, and visit the magnificent Bhimakali
Temple, a striking example of Indo-Tibetan tower architecture.
Overnight Stay: Sarahan
Day 2 — Sarahan to Sangla
Descend from Sarahan and drive into the beautiful Sangla (Baspa) Valley, one of the greenest and most
picturesque corners of Kinnaur, with terraced fields, orchards, and the rushing Baspa River.
Explore the traditional Kinnauri village of Sangla and the historic Kamru Fort, framed by snow-dusted
Dhauladhar peaks all around.
Overnight Stay: Sangla
Day 3 — Sangla to Kalpa
Wind back down the Baspa Valley and on to Kalpa, a charming village set among apple orchards and
deodar forests, with constant views of the Sutlej gorge far below.
Kalpa is famous for its front-row panorama of the sacred Kinner Kailash range, glowing gold at
sunrise and sunset. Visit Roghi village and the dramatic Suicide Point viewpoint nearby.
Overnight Stay: Kalpa
Day 4 — Kalpa to Shimla Drop
After a final mountain sunrise over Kinner Kailash, we begin the scenic descent back along the Sutlej
and the Hindustan–Tibet road, watching the high Kinnaur peaks give way once more to the green
pine-clad hills around Shimla.
Arrive in Shimla by evening for your drop, carrying home the memories of one of Himachal's most
beautiful short road journeys. We hope to host you again soon!
